Improving heart health via scientific discovery

Over 12.6 million people are living with heart valve disease.

The Chow group uses the zebrafish as an animal model to develop new treatments for heart valve disease.

The 3 research themes of the lab are:

  • Heart valve development

  • Heart valve disease progression

  • Heart valve regeneration

A focus on mechanobiology: We specialise in studying how biomechanical forces generated by heartbeat and blood flow influence heart valve biology.
